Charles Henderson track takes third overall at Troy Invitational

Both the Charles Henderson High School boys and girls track and field teams took third place finishes overall at the Troy Invitational Track Meet on March 28 on the campus of Troy University.
The girls 4×800-meter relay team consisting of Laylah Frazier, Reaghan Worley, Segaliah Knox and Caylie Copeland took the silver, while the 4×100-meter relay also took third place. That team consisted of Payton Ousley, Harmony Hubbard, Kamari Strozier and Shai’vonne Grace.
Jada Jones claimed the gold in the girls shot put, while Halley Hampton earned first place in the girl discus throw. Ousley took second place in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
Kaleyah Blair also finished runner-up in the girls discus throw, while Worley earned a second place finish in the girls high jump and sixth place in the 800-meter run. Skylar Wright claimed third place in the 300-meter hurdles and Sedaliah Knox claimed fourth in the 800-meter run.
The boys team also finished third overall, while the 4×100-meter relay team broke the school record with a time of 42.85, good for second place. That team consisted of Terrance Thomas, Joshua Daniels, Jamal Downing and Briece Baker. The boys 4×400-meter relay team also took third place with Kaden Simmons, Baker, Thomas and Downing making up that team. Caleb Richardson, Simmons, Tre Griffin and Demond Williams took third overall in the 4×800-meter relay race, as well.
In individual action, Downing claimed second place in the boys 400-meter run, while Simmons earned fourth in the 800-meter run. Thomas finished fifth in the 200-meter dash, while Baker finished sixth. Kingston Sharp also earned a second place finish in the discus throw, while finishing eighth in the shot put. Kendrick Robinson also finished seventh in the discus throw and Donnivan McClain came in fifth in the triple jump.
Goshen’s track team also competed at the Troy Invitational with the boys team coming in eighth overall, while the girls team finished ninth overall. On the boys side, George Crawley claimed the gold in the discus throw and also came in ninth place in the shot put. Jerbaur Williams took fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles and Szemerick Andrews came in fourth in the 100-meter dash.
On the girls side, Kei’Andra Cummings earned a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, seventh place finish in the 200-meter dash and ninth in the 100-meter dash. Abigail Ellerman also claimed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Pike County traveled to Straughn to compete in the Straughn Invitational on March 28, as well. The Pike County boys earned a first place finish overall, while the girls team also finished third overall at the meet.
The boys 4×400-meter and 4×100-meter relay teams both took first place finishes, while Khalil Foster claimed first in the high jump, second in the long jump and fourth in the 100-meter dash. A’Zhoree Eutsey finished third in the long jump, while Antavious Redman earned third in the long jump, first in the 110-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles.
Logan Lucy also finished fifth in the long jump, Cornelius Hall claimed fifth in the discus throw and Kobe Wallace-Hall finished in 10th place in the shot put. Quentavious Carter claimed the gold in the triple jump and gold in the 110-meter hurdles. Noah Cox also came in second in the 100-meter dash, while Masslon Reynolds earned first in the 400-meter run, Eric Walker came in second in the 400-meter run and Jaylyn Freeman came in first overall in the 300-meter hurdles.
On the girls side, the 4×100-meter relay team took the gold, while Laniya Wheeler earned silver in the 100-meter dash and bronze in the 200-meter dash. Monday Davenport claimed the gold in the high jump and Kaidyn Lee earned silver in long jump. Akeelie Rodgers also finished fourth in the discus throw, while Brooklyn Jones earned a third place finish in the shot put and ninth place finish in the javelin throw.
