Cattlemen’s Equipment Auction set for Saturday

- Jaine Treadwell The Pike County Cattlemen’s Equipment Auction has everything from lumber to boats.
Pike Cattleman Johnny Garrett is almost an expert when it comes to predicting the number of items that will be “for sale” at the Pike County Cattlemen’s annual Equipment Sale each spring.
He has predicted high temperatures, rain and windy weather. He has predicted the most money bid and the item(s) that would bring the most dollars. And, he’s been right, or close to it every time.
Last year 2024, Garrett predicted the biggest Pike County Cattlemen’s auction ever and he hit it right on the nose.
This year, he has gone out on a limb and predicted Saturday’s auction to top the 2024 record breaker.
And, Garrett just might be right again.
The number of items on the grounds on Tuesday are good indicator with everything from a speed boat to a portable “outhouse” available.
“This is by far the most items and the biggest variety of items that we’ve ever had,” Garrett said. “If you want it or don’t want, we’ve got it.”
The gates will open at 8 a.m. Saturday and close when the last lot is auctioned.
“We’ll have at least two auctions going throughout the day — maybe three,” Garrett said. “We want everything to move fast and for everybody to be successful in selling and buying, whatever they come to do.”
