Pioneer Museum extends quilt show

The Pioneer Museum of Alabama’ Biennial has extended the closing date for the museum’s biennial quilt show to regular museum hours April 3, 4 and 5.

Barbara Tatom, museum director, said the museum’s biennial show has been well attended and, because of the interest expressed, the decision was made to extend the closing a week.

“The quilt show continues to be popular among those who quilt and those who just appreciate the art,” Tatom said. “Those who attended Sherry Burkhalter’s program, ‘Quilting and Lace: 100 Year Wiregrass Legacy 1870-1970,’ had the opportunity to visit our quilt show as did visitors to the museum.”

Tatom said this year there seems to be more interest in quilting and its history than the year before.

That alone was the reason for extending the museum’s 2025 biennial quilt show.

Museum hours are from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Admission is charged.
