Pike Liberal Arts competes at Alex Wilcox Memorial Softball Tournament

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots (10-9) went 1-2 at the Alex Wilcox Memorial Softball Tournament in Montgomery this weekend.
The tournament is held in honor of former Mississippi State star Alex Wilcox, who is a Brantley native that passed away from cancer in 2018. Pike Lib extended its winning streak to six straight with a 7-6 victory over Trinity on March 28 in the first round of the tournament.
Camryn Brown continued her recent hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run for Pike Lib, while Alissa Barron went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run. Allie Booth also went 2-for-3 with a triple, one RBI and two runs. Haylie Brown, Gracie Smith and Julianne Meyer scored one run each. Barron pitched all six innings and fanned three batters, while giving up four hits and four earned runs.
Next, Pike saw its winning streak come to an end with an 8-7 loss to Lee-Scott on March 29. With the score tied 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth, Lee-Scott hit a walk-off RBI single to win the game.
Sarah Strickland went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run for Pike, while Camryn Brown scored two runs. Meyer and Haylie Brown scored one run each. Mary Holland Stephens pitched two innings and gave up one hit and two earned runs. Yaley McLendon also pitched three and 2/3 innings and fanned three batters, while giving up seven hits and two earned runs.
Pike closed out the weekend with a 5-2 loss to Saint James on March 29. Stephens went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run, while Booth scored the other Lady Pat run. McLendon pitched all six innings and gave up 10 hits and two earned runs.
