The Charles Henderson Trojans (15-10) went 3-0 to capture the 2025 Slapout Wood Bat Classic Championship this weekend.

The tournament, hosted by Holtville High School, sees teams from around the state compete with wood bats rather than the aluminum bats typically used in high school – and college – baseball. Charles Henderson not only went 3-0 in the tournament but those wins bring the CHHS winning streak to six straight.

The Trojans opened the weekend with a 13-3 dominant win over the Autauga Academy Generals on March 28. Chase Vaznaian led the Trojans at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, five RBIs and one run, while Cooper Johnson went 3-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases. Cole Pugh went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs, while Clay Johnson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, one double and one run.

Trenton Bryan was the winning pitcher for the Trojans, striking out six batters and giving up just three hits and three earned runs in five innings on the mound. Pugh also tallied three putouts and one double play on defense.

Charles Henderson followed that up with a 9-2 win over the Reeltown Rebels on March 29. Pugh went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run, while Vaznaian, Clay Johnson, Ben Cochran, Bryan and Wilson Jones each scored one run.

Wes Templin was the winning pitcher, striking out two batters and giving up five hits and two earned runs in four and 2/3 innings of work. Blake Lowery also pitched one and 1/3 innings and fanned three batters along with giving up one hit and no earned run. Pugh tallied seven putouts and one assist with no errors, while Cooper Johnson earned two putouts, three assists and one double play with no errors.

On March 30, the Trojans defeated host Holtville in the Slapout Wood Bat Classic Championship by a score of 4-1. Kellen Stewart went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run, while Clay Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs. Kameron Johnson also stole three bases and scored one run. Pugh earned eight putouts and no fielding errors.

Clay Johnson, Cooper Johnson and Blake Lowery were all named to the All-Tournament team and Clay Johnson earned Tournament MVP honors.
