The Troy University Department of Theatre and Dance will be hosting its rendition of the Broadway classic “The Music Man” at the Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park Amphitheater April 3-6.
The Music Man is considered a classic musical that was written by Meredith Wilson in the 1950s. The Music Man centers on a fast-talking traveling salesman named Harold Hill who arrives to River City, Iowa, with plans to con the town when those plans are foiled by the town librarian, who threatens to change his mind and capture his heart.
The award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway musical is considered an All-American institution thanks to its “quirky characters, charmingly predictable situations and nostalgic score of musical favorites like ‘Seventy-Six Trombones’ and ’Til There Was You.’”
The special concert features Troy University’s Symphony Band from the John M. Long School of Music. The outdoor event will be held at the Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park Amphitheater April 3-6 with reserved seating tickets at the cost of $10 and bring your own seating for $5. Students with a Troy University ID can get in for $5, as well. Parking for the Cultural Arts Park is available near the International Arts Center. Showtimes for each night will begin at 7 p.m with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets can be punched at the Trojan Center Box Office next to the Barns and Noble Bookstore or online here.
