TROY – A 5-year-old was struck by a vehicle and injured in a crash Friday evening in Pike County.

According to Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the child, who was in the roadway, was struck by a single vehicle. The child was airlifted to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The vehicle was a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser drive by Lisa Culpepper, 62, of Banks, according to a release from Troopers.

The crash occurred on Pike county 5516 near U.S. 231, approximately one mile south of Troy.

The incident is under investigation and no further information was available at this time.
