High School Softball: Pike Lib beats Goshen; CHHS throttles Highland Home

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans and Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots both picked up softball wins on March 27. 

The Pike Lib Lady Patriots (9-7) won their fifth straight game, and seventh win in the last eight games, with a resounding 19-1 Class 2A, Area 4 win over the Goshen Lady Eagles. Shelly Stephens led PLAS at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Joy Schwarte went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Alissa Barron also earned two RBIs, while Julianne Meyer scored four runs and hit a double. Mary Holland Stephens, Yaley McLendon, Gracie Smith, Casidee Boone and Riley Burkett scored two runs each. McLendon pitched three innings and struck out four batters, while giving up six hits and no earned runs.

For Goshen, Kenna Senn went 2-for-2 with a run, while Macie McAliley went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Senn also pitched three innings. 

The CHHS Lady Trojans (4-13) earned a 19-0 win over Highland Home on March 27, as well. Janazia Cantlow went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, while Calleigh Compton went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Aderian Greenwood went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs. Jada Jones, Ava Stone, Allaynah Vaznaian and Chloe MaKau scored two runs each. 

Katy Lynn Lee pitched four innings and fanned two batters, while giving up one hit and no runs. Camille Lewis tallied three putouts and one assist on defense with no fielding errors. 

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs (2-14) were swept by Pike Road in a doubleheader on March 27. In game one, Pike County lost 11-1. Hailey Griffin scored the lone Lady Dawg run, while Taylor Tracwick gave up seven hits and four earned runs in two innings pitched. Kylan Wilkerson also pitched four innings and struck out four batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs.

In game two, Pike Road bested Pike County by a score of 17-3. Arianna Straw, Paloma Cain Munoz and Kailia Beacham scored one run each. Leah Dixon pitched five innings and struck out three batters, while Morgan Gardner tallied four putouts with no fielding errors.
