TPCT to be recognized with Gene Bottoms Pacesetter Award

The Troy-Pike Center for Technology has been recognized for its outstanding Career Technical Education programs.
The center will be the recipient of a Southern Regional EducationBoard Gene Bottoms Pacesetter Award at the board’s annual conference in New Orleans during July. The Pacesetter Award recognizes member schools for excellence in
TPCT is a joint venture between Troy City Schools and Pike County Schools and offers 11 different curriculums for students and has become a leader in workforce development.
“A key element in this success has been the vision and leadership of PCS and TCS to provide students with a wide range of CTE pathways that are aligned with current labor market demands and the future workforce,” Jamie RIch, TPCT career tech director for TCS and PCS, said. “By collaborating with local community colleges and businesses and industry partners, TPCT has become a hub for workforce development in Pike County, equipping students and adults with industry-recognized certifications, college credits and real-world experience. The focus on dual enrollment programs, work-based learning and service-learning opportunities has created a robust educational ecosystem preparing students for success.”
Rich said TPCT added welding in 2020, early childhood education and construction in 2023 and in 2024 added plumbing, cosmetology and medical assisting technology.
