After a large tornado outbreak cut a path of destruction across 25 counties in Alabama and Mississippi recently, The C Spire Foundation donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross of Alabama and Mississippi to support tornado recovery efforts in those areas.

The C Spire Foundation is funded by C Spire, a telecommunications and technology services company that provides wireless communications across the Southeast. C Spire employs more than 1,700 team members in Alabama and Mississippi.

“The C Spire Foundation is committed to supporting communities and residents in C Spire’s footprint by partnering with organizations like the American Red Cross that provide volunteers and resources during times of disaster,” C Spire Foundation President and Executive Director Beth Pickering said. “We hope this donation will bring relief and comfort to those impacted by the tornadoes and help them rebuild their communities and lives.”

The American Red Cross, a nonprofit organization, shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies 40 percent fo the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families.

“The generous donation from the C Spire Foundation enables the American Red Cross to provide critical relief to communities across Mississippi and Alabama,” American Red Cross Regional Chief Executive Officer Mark Beddingfield said. “This support ensures families in need receive emergency shelter, hot meals, essential supplies and emotional care as they begin rebuilding their lives. With estimates that nearly 800 homes were damages, this contribution makes a real difference in helping survivors recover and move forward.”
