Pike Lib, Pike County earn softball wins

Both the Pike Liberal Arts and Pike County softball teams earned wins this week.
The Pike Lib Lady Patriots (8-7) went over .500 on the season after sweeping a doubleheader on March 25 against Geneva and Ashford. The two wins put Pike’s winning streak at four straight.
In game one, Pike bested Geneva by a score of 8-5. Camryn Brown went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs, while Sarah Strickland went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run. Alissa Barron also scored two runs. Mary Holland Stephens went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Barron also pitched seven innings and struck out one batter, while giving up four hits and two earned runs.
Pike Lib followed that up with a 10-4 win over Ashford. Camryn Brown was once again a nightmare for opposing pitchers as she went 3-for-4 with two homers, one double, five RBIs and three runs. Strickland also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, while Haylie Brown went 2-for-4 with a run. Mary Holland Stephens also joined the home run party with a dinger of her own.
Stephens pitched five innings and fanned one batter, while giving up three hits and no earned runs. Yaley. McLendon pitched two innings and gave up no hits and two earned runs.
In the two games, Camryn Brown went 5-for-8 at the plate with an eye-popping four home runs, eight RBIs and five runs.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs (2-12) picked up their second win of the season by a score of 12-0 over Russell County on March 24.
Taylor Trawick went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and one run, while Leah Dixon went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one RBI and two runs. Arianna Straw also went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs.
Kylan Wilkerson pitched five innings and mowed down 10 batters, while giving up one hit and no runs conserving the shutout. Morgan Gardner also tallied nine putouts with no fielding errors on defense.
