No. 17 Troy falls to Wofford

- Troy dropped a frustrating loss to Wofford on March 25.
It was a frustrating night for the No. 17-ranked Troy Trojans (18-6) as they dropped a home game against the Wofford Terriers (18-8) by a score of 14-3 at home on Tuesday.
Wofford outhit the Trojans 13-6 in the win, including three home runs, dominating at the plate. For Troy, Blake Cavill went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as the only Trojan with multiple hits on the night. Steven Meier, Harrison Bowman and Sean Darnell scored one run each.
Noah Thigpen (0-1) took the loss on the mound, striking out three batters and giving up three hits and two earned runs. Luke Lyon pitched two and 2/3 innings and struck out three batters, while giving up three hits and three earned. Troy had three fielding errors as a defense. Cavill earned eight putouts and one assist with no errors.
For Wofford, Andrew Mannelly went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of home runs, one double, three RBIs and three runs. Alec Bouchard pitched three innings and fanned four batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs.
Troy will look to bounce back on the road today at 3 p.m. against Florida A&M before hosting Marshall for a Sun Belt Conference series March 28-30.
