Troy storm confirmed as EF2 tornado

The National Weather Service has confirmed a storm that cut its way through Troy late Saturday night was an EF2 tornado.
According to the NWS, the tornado touched down at 11:02 p.m. near Mossy Grove and did severe damage to the Troy Sportsplex. The storm tracked northeast from the Sportsplex and caused damage to businesses along U.S. 231 in the vicinity of Flash Market. The Pike County School System’s Center for Advanced Academics and Accelerated Learning had roof damage and Kimber suffered property damage.
From there, the storm continued northeast and caused substantial damage along Elm Street Road and Holley Drive. The storm also flipped over a trailer near the intersection of Alabama Highway 223 and U.S. Highway 29. The occupant of the trailer escaped with minor injuries. From there, the storm entered Bullock County. NWS tracking data indicated the tornado dissipated about 1 mile WSW from Perote in Bullock County.
According to NWS tracking data, the tornado stayed on the ground for 26 minutes along a 21.29 mile northeast track. At its widest point, the tornado reached 1,400 yards across.
