One of the most popular T-Day activities over the last few years has been the annual Lunch with Legends event and Troy University Athletics announced the panel for this year’s event this week.

The 2025 Lunch with Legends will feature Troy University legends Richard Shaughnessy, Lawrence Tynes, DeWhitt Betterson Sr. and Corey Robinson. The panel of legends will speak during a lunch from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on April 12.

Cost for Lunch with Legends is $30 and includes a lunch, drink and admission to the guest panel in the Stadium Club at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The event has sold out each of the last three years. Tickets can be purchased at TroyTrojans.com/LunchwithLegends.

Shaughnessy is a Wiregrass Hall of Famer and has been a part of the Troy staff since 1997. The Dothan native played baseball at Wallace Community College and was a powerlifter at Auburn before becoming a professional powerlifter in the 1990s. He was the strength coach for Troy Football from 1996 until being named Director of Strength and Conditioning for all Troy Athletics in 2015, a position he still serves in.

Tynes, a former walk-on at Troy, went on to become one of the most decorated special teams players in Troy history and a Troy Athletics Hall of Famer. He holds Troy’s career record in PAT percentage and ranks second in career field goal percentage and third all-time in field goals made. Tynes went on to play in the NFL for 13 years for the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tynes is most known for his record-breaking 47-yard field gaol in overtime to send the Giants to the Super Bowl in 2007. Tynes won two Super Bowls with the Giants and led the entire NFL in PATs in 2004.

Betterson is also a Troy Hall of Famer and ended his Troy career as the all-time leading rusher in school history, a record that stood until Kimani Vidal broke it in 2023. Betterson rushed for 3,441 yards in his Trojan career and earned All-Sun Belt honors as a junior. His son, Dewitt Betterson Jr., is now a member of the Troy football team.

Robinson will be inducted into the Troy Athletics Hall of Fame this fall and is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Troy history. He won the 2010 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and earned All-Sun Belt honors three times during his career. He ended his Troy playing days holding a number of single game, single season and career passing records at Troy. Robinson is now a football coach.

Obviously, Lunch with Legends won’t be the only event to coincide with T-Day as Troy Football will host its Youth Football Clinic from noon until 1 p.m. and the annual Troy Athletics Yard Sale at 1 p.m. in the West Concourse of Veterans Memorial Stadium.
