TPD promotes two officers

The Troy Police Department held a pinning ceremony to promote two officers on Tuesday morning. 

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron promoted Officer Ashton Coleman to detective in the Criminal Investigations division and Officer Latifa Anderson to sergeant in the patrol division. 

Coleman was born and raised in Dothan and is a 2013 Graduate of Dothan High School and a 2017 graduate of Troy University with a bachelor’s degree.

In 2018, she was hired as a patrol officer by the Troy Police Department, and she graduated from the Northeast Police Academy.  While at the Police Academy, Coleman served as the secretary/treasurer for the 174th Basic Session. Coleman resigned in August of 2021 and went to work with the Leeds Police Department.  In 2022, she was rehired by the Troy Police Department, and she became a certified peer support officer.  In January of 2024, she received her certification as a field training officer and spike strips instructor.  In 2025, she received her drone pilot license, and she is currently getting her certification to be a certified crisis negotiator.  Coleman is currently a member of the Troy Police Department Honor Guard.

Anderson was born and raised in Spanish Fort and is a 2011 honors graduate of Spanish Fort High School. After graduation she attended Faulkner Community College in Bay Minette and transferred to Troy University in 2013. Anderson is a Cum Laude graduate of Troy University where she received her bachelor of science degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology in 2015. 

In 2016, Anderson was hired as a patrol officer by the Troy Police Department, and she graduated from the Northeast Police Academy. In 2024, she received her certification as a field training officer. She is currently getting her certification to be a crisis negotiator for the Troy Police Department.
