The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries celebrated National Ag Day on Wednesday to recognize and show appreciation to the hardworking farmers who keep Alabama and the world fed, clothed and thriving.
Agriculture is the backbone of Alabama, contributing $77.3 billion to the state’s economy.
No one is more committed to protecting the land than Alabama farmers. One farmer could feed nearly 76 people in the early 1970’s. Today, one farmer can feed more than 165 people. National Ag Day is a great time to “Thank A Farmer” for all they do.
Commissioner Rick Pate, U.S. Senator Katie Britt, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville and several elected officials thanked Alabama’s farmers in celebration of National Ag Day.
