- The We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge.
The We Piddle Around Theater at the crossroads in downtown Brundidge, provides an opportunity to learn about the folk history of the South and those who lived it.
The theater is home to the Brundidge Historical Society that provides opportunities for participation in a variety for arts and entertainment events including its marquee theater event “Come Home, It’s Suppertime,” which is Alabama’s Official Folklife Play.
However, the theater offers opportunities for storytelling, musical events, plays, historical and book presentations, good food and fellowship among old and new friends.
Johnny Garrett, BHS president, said, it actually does take a village to offer extended arts entertainment in a town of 2,070.
“We need more people involved, people of all ages,” he said. “We have children, grandpas and grandmas. We have people that sing and dance, those that sweep the sawdust floors, people who serve tables and others who wash dishes. Others advertise our events on radio and that television. We have something for most every age and all interests.’
Garrett said the BHS is always welcomes new members and offers them the opportunity to pick and choose what interests them most.
On Sunday, March 22 from 2 until 2 p.m. the BHS will host open house at the We Piddle Around Theater. Those who want to know more about the theater and programs offered are invited and encouraged to be there.
Jimmy Phillips, event coordinator, said everyone is invited to come, ask questions and, then, decide if piddlin’ around is for them.
