Troy residents come together to offer a helping hand

A number of homes and properties were damaged this past weekend when a large tornado tore through the City of Troy, and now a number of the city’s local residents are coming together to help their neighbors.
The Salvation Army of Troy is offering free lunches on Monday and is also providing assistance with clothing and other items for those that were affected by the storm.
A GoFundMe has been set up by Autumn Parrish in an attempt to raise funds for those that were affected, including clothing, food, hygiene products and other items. More than $600 has been raised thus far with a goal of $5,000. Parish also set up a Google Doc with information for anyone that is looking for help.
Park Memorial Methodist Church will be open March 18 with a clothes closet. The Troy Resilience Project is also offering dog and cat food, a food pantry and clothes closet. The Troy Resilience Project is open 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Troy resident Latryus Edwards is organizing a hot dog plate lunch and non-perishable food drive in the parking lot of the old Big Lots on Tuesday. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating can do so by contacting Edwards via Facebook.
STBA Church off Highway 231 is offering food and clothes for those in need of help. The church can be reached, via (334) 566-1538.
Trojan Mexican Grill in Troy is also acting as a drop-off point for clothing and food donations for those that have been affected by the storm.
