- The Troy Trojans will head to the WNIT for the second consecutive season.
The Troy Trojans women’s basketball team will see their season continue after it was announced the Trojans would receive the Sun Belt Conference’s automatic qualifier bid for the upcoming WNIT.
Last season, Troy made it all the way to the Fab 4 of the WNIT, the deepest any Troy women’s team has made it into a postseason tournament. Troy holds a 20-13 record and made it to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament last weekend.
“We are thrilled at the opportunity to continue our season and to represent Troy University well on a national stage,” head coach Chanda Rigby said.
This is Troy’s fourth total WNIT appearance, all of those coming under Rigby. Troy’s also won 20 or more games in nine of Rigby’s 13 seasons at the helm. Her team’s have also won at least 20 games in six of the last seven seasons.
The WNIT bracket will be revealed on Sunday, March 16.
