Troy Softball sweeps Alabama A&M in pair of shutouts

The Troy Trojans (18-9) softball team extended their winning streak to six straight games with a pair of shutouts over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (12-11) on the road on Wednesday.
Troy won game one by a score of 8-0. Brantley native Kayden Dunn led Troy at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run. Makaley Boswell and Taylor McKinney scored two runs each. Cassidy Boltz also hit a home run. Boswell stole two bases.
Mya Holt (7-2) pitched three innings and gave up four hits with no runs. Dunn also earned nine putouts on defense.
Troy followed that up with a 9-0 win over Alabama A&M in game two. Reaghan Oney went 2-for-3 at the plate with one triple, one homer, five RBIs and two runs. McKinney also went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Alyssa Faircloth (8-3) had another stellar performance in the circle, striking out seven batters and giving up just one hit and no runs. Caiden Oliva earned five putouts and one double play.
“It was a good night tonight, 8-0 and 9-0 wins,” Troy Coach Eric Newell said. “We did a lot of things right, but there are some areas that we need to tighten up a bit. All in all, to take the two wins pretty convincingly is a good night.”
Troy hosts Coastal Carolina for a three-game series March 14-16 as Sun Belt Conference play begins. Troy and Coastal Carolina will play first on March 14 at 5:30 p.m.
