The year 2025 is moving forward rather quickly and the Brundidge Historical Society is looking forward to continuing the community theater events that have been successful over the years.

“And, perhaps, we’ll bring back one or two events to the We Piddle Around Theater, or, maybe, just one or two,” said Johnny Garrett, BHS president. “We have our ‘mainstay events including our award-winning folk life play, ‘Come Home, It’s Suppertime,’ which has been designated Alabama’s Official Folklife Play.”

The BHS’ Peanut Butter Festival began in 1992 and is the organization’s’ first, and oldest, annual event.’

The Brundidge Historical Society also hosts other annual events including the Chili Country Christmas, Pike Peddlers Storytelling Festival and other events, including the Appalachian drama,” Fair and Tender Ladies” and several other solo shows, historical presentations and musical events.

Another special event was “Abby the Spoon Lady,” and it brought a lot of university students to the We Piddle Around Theater.

“And, we would like to have people of all ages become members of the BHS and join us as full members, or just to participate in one or two activities or events,” Lawrence Bowden said. “I’ve been a member of the BHS since the beginning and it has been, and continues to be an enjoyable, enriching and meaningful experience. It has been a blessing, a real blessing and to my family, my wife Sara, grandson Mason and grand-daughter, Caddi Rose.

“The We Piddle Around Theater and all those involved have been blessings to me. And, I’m thankful to be a part of such a large family.”

At 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, the BHS will host open house at the We Piddle Around Theater. Everyone is invited to come and experience the theater that rose out of the ashes and consider becoming a part of all the piddlin’ around.
