Both the Ariton Lady Purple Cats and Zion Chapel Lady Rebels were in action on the softball field on Tuesday.

Ariton (8-6-1) battled the Luverne Lady Tigers to a 1-1 tie in a defensive battle. Ariton trailed 1-0 going into the sixth inning when Beth Dixon beat a throw at home plate to tie the score. Neither team managed to get back into scoring place, even after going into extra innings.

Lizzy Faircloth hit a double for Ariton, while Macileigh Bragg hit a triple. Brynlee Peters earned two stolen bases. Faircloth pitched all eight innings and struck out seven batters, while giving up four hits and no earned runs.

Zion Chapel (6-8) also dropped a tough 3-0 loss to Houston Academy. Riley Bannin and Shea Wambles earned one hit each for ZCHS. Bannin also pitched four innings and fanned one batter, while giving up four hits and no earned runs. Bannin tallied five putouts on defense with no fielding errors, as well.
