High School Baseball: Pike County, Zion Chapel pick up wins

The Pike County Bulldogs (2-8) earned their second win of the season with a 15-12 victory over the Houston County Cougars on Tuesday.
Pike County’s Daniel Collins exploded at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, six RBIs and three runs. Ben Patterson also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs and five stolen bases. Mark Griffin also stole two bases and scored two runs. Britt Albritton scored three runs, while Reid Price and Edward Parker scored one run each.
Albritton pitched three innings and struck out three batters, while giving up six hits and two earned runs. Griffin pitched three innings and fanned three batters, while giving up five hits and four earned runs.
The Zion Chapel Rebels (5-6) also picked up a 9-4 win over Class 5A’s Carroll Eagles on Tuesday to earn their third straight victory on the diamond.
Brodie Stinson led the way at the plate for ZCHS, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three RBIs and two runs. John Foster Hamm scored two runs, while Brady Flowers, Dylan Davis, Weston Watson, Tyler Bass and Joseph LeGear scored one run each.
Flowers pitched five innings and struck out six batters, while giving up five hits and two earned runs. Davis also put in one and 2/3 innings of work on the mound, mowing down four batters and giving up one hit and one earned run.
