High School Baseball: Pike Lib drops heartbreaker to Opp; Ariton sweeps Houston County

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (6-8) dropped an exciting contest with the Opp Bobcats on Monday by a score of 11-10.
Pike led 10-9 going into the bottom of the seventh inning but Opp hit a sacrifice fly that drove in Matthew Morgan for the tying run. Then, facing two outs, Cash Harrell hit a walk-off single that drove Riley Day in for the winning run. Opp scored seven runs in the final two innings.
Jackson Bowen went 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs and a double, while Luke Barron went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs and one double. Kade Brookins went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, three runs, one double and one triple.
Braden Shirley pitched four innings and struck out four batters, while giving up four hits and four earned runs. Cole Garrott also struck out a batter and gave up five hits and four earned runs in two innings of work.
The Ariton Purple Cats (10-2) got back into the win column by sweeping Houston County in a doubleheader on Monday. Ariton won the first game 15-0 and won the second game 17-1 in just three innings.
In game one, Aven Cook went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a triple, while Wells Ganey went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a double. Easton Kilpatrick went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases. Bryce Odom went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Pierce Gill scored two runs.
Brodie Lowery pitched three innings and struck out six batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs. Addison Senn struck out five and gave up no hits or earned runs in two innings pitched.
In game two, Cook went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, three runs, one double and one triple, while Gill went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases. Gabe Jones also scored two runs. Conner Davidson pitched two innings and struck out four batters, while giving up two hits and no earned runs. Hayes Hammock struck out one and gave up no hits and one earned run in one inning on the mound.
