Spencer Baumhower said Baumhower’s Victory Grille is serving up plenty of “Legendary Fun” and “Legendary Food” at its Troy Location.

Baumhower, the son of legendary Alabama football player Bob Baumhower, said Troy is a great location for the restaurant chain his father founded in Tuscaloosa in 1981.

Baumhower, president of Aloha Hospitality, said the original restaurant was an over-the-counter  restaurant that specialized in Buffalo wings. Over the years, he said the  concept of the restaurant evolved. In the 1990s Baumhower’s adopted a sports themed restaurant, and in 2008, Baumhower’s Restaurant re-branded into Baumhower’s Victory Grille.

Baumhower’s brother, Wes, played football at Troy University. Baumhower said Wes was always telling him and his father they should open a restaurant in Troy.

Baumhower said his brother’s persistence paid off and they began looking at opening a restaurant in Troy. He said it took about two-and-a-half years to get the deal done.

“Everyone we worked with really, really cared,” Baumhower said. “To me, that’s what really stands out about Troy and why I love the community so much. There’s just so many good people in this town that genuinely care about people and want to do things the right way.”

Baumhower said he was often asked about steaks. He said prior to COVID, Baumhower’s had served steaks and they had been talking about bringing back steaks for a few months. He said they were looking at Troy as a test location.

As far as the current menu, Baumhower said, based on what they prepared the most, Troy was a pot roast and hamburger steak town.
