Play wraps up in Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament

The Terry Sikes Memorial Baseball Tournament came to a close this weekend with Ariton, Charles Henderson and Pike Lib all in action in Troy.
In the final night of baseball play, the Ariton Purple Cats (8-2) suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Chilton County in walk-off fashion. In the ninth inning, with the game tied 3-3, Chilton County won on a walk-off RBI single.
Easton Kilpatrick led AHS at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Wells Ganey hit a triple and scored one run. Aven Cook and Hayes Hammock both scored one run. Austin Evans pitched five and 1/3 innings and struck out four batters, while giving up four hits and one earned run. Landon Givens gave up one hit and one earned run in two innings on the mound. Reiley Snellgrove gave up two hits and one earned run in one and 1/3 innings pitched.
Also, the Charles Henderson Trojans (7-7) lost 2-1 to Oneonta on Friday. Clay Johnson scored the lone Trojan run, while Chase Vaznaian, Cooper Johnson, Will Watkins and Ben Cochran each earned one hit. Wes Templin pitched all seven innings and fanned six batters, while giving up five hits and two earned runs. Clay Johnson totaled 10 putouts on defense with no errors.
The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (6-7) also lost to Oneonta 11-1. Garrett Whitaker earned an RBI double, while Kade Brookins scored the only Patriot run. Brookins also pitched two and 2/3 innings and struck out three batters along with giving up eight hits and five earned runs. Whitaker pitched one and 1/3 innings, fanning three batters and giving up three hits and three earned runs.
