High School Baseball: Zion Chapel shuts out Elba

The Zion Chapel Rebels (4-6) earned a 13-0 shutout win over the Elba Tigers on the baseball diamond this weekend.

Dylan Davis led the Rebels on the mound, pitching the shutout. He struck out an eye-popping 14 batters, while giving up just one hit and no runs. Davis also earned two RBIs on the offensive end. Brodie Stinson went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, four runs and four stolen bases, while Weston Watson went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. John Foster Hamm also went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Joseph LeGear went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI, four runs and two stolen bases.

The Goshen Eagles (5-6) lost 18-2 to the Brantley Bulldogs. Grant Taylor went 1-for-1 at the plate with a double and a run. Tyler McLendon also earned one hit, while JD Burney stole three bases. Cody Boyette pitched one and 2/3 innings and fanned three batters, while giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs.

The Pike County Bulldogs (1-8) were swept in a doubleheader by Dale County and Carroll. PCHS lost 15-5 to Dale County first. Jakori Green went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Daniel Collins went 2-for-3 with a run. Antonio Patterson and Ben Patterson scored one run each, while Michael Gabel hit a double. Britt Albritton pitched three and 1/3 innings and struck out two batters, while giving up nine hits and six earned runs.

In game two, Pike County also lost 15-5 to Carroll. Albritton went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Gabel, Griffin, Ben Patterson, Antonio Patterson and Zaikeilen Adams scored one run each. Gabel pitched four and 1/3 innings and struck out seven batters, while giving up seven hits and six earned runs.
