Grand National Monster Trucks coming to Troy

The world of Monster Trucks will invade Troy for the first time on March 22 as Grand National Monster Trucks come to the Pike County Cattlemen’s Park.

A number of Monster Trucks that have been seen on television like King Krunch, Nitro Hornet and Tantrum will be on hand. Former Monster Jam Champion Overkill Evolution will also be competing.

“One of my guys was just driving through, going to another show, and saw the arena there in Troy,” Dillon Fenley of Grand National Monster Trucks said. “He just so happen to come across it and it looks like a good little town with a bunch of small towns around there. We hope it’ll be a good place fo run and have a good feeling about it.”

Fenley, a Houston, Texas, native, is the owner and driver of King Krunch. Fenley said that while this tour has never come to Troy, this is also the first time it’s been to the Wiregrass since holding a show in Dothan before COVID.

Fenley said that there will be a number of events for fans of all ages.

“We’ll have three monster truck competitions; racing, wheelies and a freestyle competition,” he said. “The freestyle competition is the fan favorite. It’s a cool thing and gets the crowd involved.”

He also said that fans – even children – will have a chance to have races of their own.

“We’ll have some side-by-side races and locals can join in on that,” he said. “That’s a really fun thing. So, if locals want to come out and bring their side-by-sides and race in the show they can. We also have a Power Wheels Race for kids. Parents can bring their children’s own Power Wheels and use it. During intermission they’ll get to race on the track.”

There will also be a special meet and greet with drivers prior to the show and a chance for Monster Truck rides, as well. There will be two shows on March 22, a matinee and an evening show. The gates open for the matinee at 10 a.m. with the meet and greet beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the event beginning at noon. The evening show will see gates open at 4:30 p.m., the meet and greet at 4:30 p.m. and the event beginning at 7 p.m.

Advanced adult tickets are $20, advanced child tickets are $15 and VIP tickets are $45. VIP tickets include VIP seating, an event poster or autographed card, Pre-Show Pit Party and a Monster Truck ride. Individual Monster Truck rides can also be purchased for $10.
