Charles Henderson beats Citronelle 17-7 in Terry Sikes Tournament

The Charles Henderson Trojans continued play in the Terry Sikes Memorial Baseball Tournament on Wednesday with a resounding 17-7 win over the Citronelle Wildcats at Riddle-Pace Field. 

The Trojans were led by a dominant performance at the plate by Trenton Bryan and a 12-run outburst in the third inning. In the third, Bryan hit a grand slam inside-the-park home run. 

Bryan finished the game going 3-for-4 with a home run, seven RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases. Chase Vaznaian also went 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs, while Owen Pugh went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Cooper Johnson also scored three runs, while Kellen Stewart, Ben Cochran and Jam Burney scored one run each. 

Clay Johnson pitched four innings and struck out three batters, while giving up six hits and one earned run. Cooper Johnson also pitched one inning and gave up no hits or runs. Cochran and Pugh earned three putouts and two assists each on defense. 

For Citronelle, Whyatt Nelson went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs. Toby Rowell pitched two and 1/3 innings and fanned three batters, while giving up nine hits and 12 earned runs. 

Charles Henderson continues play at the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament on Friday against Oneonta at 7 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.
