Coming off a year of successful arts events, the Brundidge Historical Society is looking forward to the continuation of the current arts events at the We Piddle Around Theater in downtown Brundidge.
Johnny Garrett, BHS president, said the year 2024 closed out the fall arts season with the annual Peanut Butter Harvest and Heritage Celebration, and the Chili Country Christmas and opened the 2025 arts season with its 16th Annual Pike Peddlers Storytelling Festival at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge and the Trojan Center Theater on the campus of Troy University.
“We are looking forward to continuing the events that have been very successful for us and adding one, maybe two, events to our calendar,” said Garrett said.
“Alabama’s Official Folk Life Play, “Come Home, It’s Suppertime,” is planned to be back after taking the fall off,” Garrett said “We will also consider a second run of the folklife play, “Well, It’s All Over Town.”
However, Garret said much depends on new and supporting members of the Brundidge Historical Society.
The BHS will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight Friday, March 7, at the Brundidge Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. BHS member Jimmy Phillips said the purpose of the meeting is to plan for the BHS Membership Drive to be held from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23.
Phillips said to continue with the BHS current and proposed events, more members are necessary.
The Brundidge Historical Society’s first public event was a Quilt Show at the historic Bass House in 1992 and hopes are to continue tried-and-true events and add several more.
BHS members may participate in their choice of programs, activities and events.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of the arts in small town America.
