For the past three years, Chris Davis has been coming to the local area to bring improv outreach to area schools, including Pike County and Crenshaw County.
“This year Chris will be working with seven first-grade classrooms, two second grade classrooms, two high school classes and several kindergartner classes.” said Andrea Pack, JCA executive director.
Center Stagers afterschool theater, as well as an Improv class for all ages, is open to the community at 5:30 p.m. tonight at The Studio.
“We anticipate that Chris will be working with well over 200 area students teaching them the fun that goes along with Improv skills and thinking outside of the box quickly and relying on their own creative impulses,” Pack said. “Young children have a natural ability to do Improv, but working with high school students and adults is also important to help them reconnect with their intuition and find the fun in invention and storytelling.”
Pack said Improv is essentially a way to play and have fun with others.
“We are hoping that an Improv group can start to meet regularly, so we will explore that at this class on Thursday,” Pack said.
““I think, if you are a person who likes to interact with others and have a good time, you are a good candidate to come out tonight and just see what it is all about! This will be a family friendly event for all ages. Bring a friend and we can’t wait to see you there!”
