When Old Man Winter begins to tease with hints of spring, the hoe, rake and shovel come out of storage … and the kids disappear.
Right on-cue, the Pioneer Museum of Alabama sends out a NYH (Need Your Help) alert, there is no hesitation among those know and understand the importance of Alabama history and the importance of the Pioneer Museum of Alabama to Pike County and far beyond.
So, on Saturday, March 1, members from the Pike County Master Gardeners, Scouting America Troop 41, Troy University Trojan Ambassadors, Pioneer Museum of Alabama Board members, and friends of the museum worked on the museum’s nature trail.
Tatom said the nature trail is import to the museum because it provides opportunities for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty that encompasses the museum grounds and also provides signage for tree identification.
On behalf of the Pioneer Museum Board of Directors, Tatom expressed appreciation to the master gardeners, Trojan Ambassadors, museum board members and Troop 41 for their continuing support of the museum and its projects.
“There is still more work to be done, but the trail will be open to the public during regular business hours beginning Thursday, March 6,” Tatom said. “We appreciate the support that we received on Saturday and through the year. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. We welcome new members and memberships are available throughout the year.”
