Upcoming events at the Johnson Center

There is always something exciting going on at the Johnson Center for the Arts. Always.

And, thanks to the Alabama State Council on the Arts, Center Stagers has begun the spring season preparing for a performance of “Schoolhouse Rock,” said Andrea Pack, JCA executive director.

“Our after-school arts programming continues for students in Crenshaw County thanks to the Alabama State Department of Education,” Park said. “Outreach classes through Amp Up Arts have expanded art experiences to Sprout Early Learning Center, Troy Pediatric & Collegiate Health and Troy Resilience Project, thanks to The Daniel Foundation.”

Pack said the JCA is also grateful to The Chapman Foundation for helping bring new arts education to Goshen Elementary School and Pike County Elementary School. We thank and recognize all of our members for enriching lives with the power of the arts.”

Upcoming artists and exhibitions include, but not limited to, Marlene Bennett Jones through March 14; Aavont Kevon Afro-futurism thorough April4 and recent works by Beverly West Leach, Greg Skaggs and Tiffany Belca.

On March 6, the JAC will feature Improv Jam with Christ Davis at The Studio from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

ArtPlay is free for children and caregivers on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Expression Sessions at Charles Henderson Child Health are Tuesday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

A reception for Gees Bend Quilter Marlene Bennett Jones will be from 7-9 p.m. on March 13. Admission is free and everyone is invited
