The Sun Belt Conference released its All-Sun Belt women’s basketball team on Monday and Troy’s Zay Dyer was the lone Trojan to be named to the team.

The 6-foot-2-inch Dyer led the Sun Belt with 14 double-doubles this season and ranks 20th in the country in the category. She also leads the conference in rebounds and her 325 total rebounds is ranked fifth in Troy’s single season history. The junior ended the regular season averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. She’s also tallied 29 blocks and 22 steals on the season.

“I’m thrilled that Zay is being honored with this award,” head coach Chanda Rigby said. “She works extremely hard and gives her all in the Troy uniform. Zay has contributed so much to our program, and it’s great to see her be rewarded.”

James Madison’s Peyton McDaniel was named Player of the Year, while Georgia State’s Mahogany Matthews earned Defensive Player of the Year and Louisana’s Erica Lafayette captured Newcomer of the Year. Southern Miss’ Trinity Rowe also earned Freshman of the Year and James Madison’s Sean O’Regan was named Coach of the Year. Marshall’s Aislynn Hayes, ULM’s Jakayla Johnson, McDaniel and JMU’s Kseniia Kozlova joined Dyer on the All-Sun Belt First-Team.

Dyer and the Trojans will play in the quarterfinals of the SBC Tournament on March 8.
