Ariton goes undefeated in tournament action

The Ariton Purple Cats (7-0) hosted the Small Town Showdown Baseball Tournament this weekend and went 3-0 in tournament action.
Ariton hosted Eufaula, Zion Chapel, Washington County, Wicksburg and Headland for the tournament. The Purple Cats defeated Washington County by a score of 7-0 on Feb. 28 to open the tournament.
Wells Ganey went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, one triple, two RBIs and three runs, while Easton Kilpatrick went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. He also pitched five innings and struck out five batters, while giving up five hits and no runs. Addison Senn went 2-for-3 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs. Brodie Lowery pitched one inning and gave up one hit and no runs.
Ariton followed that up with a 9-2 win over Zion Chapel on Feb. 28. For Ariton, Ganey went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and one run. Lowery went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs, while Kilpatrick went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gabe Jones also went 2-for-3 with a run.
Hayes Hammock pitched two innings and fanned three batters, while giving up three hits and one earned run. Reiley Snellgrove also gave up two hits and one earned run with five strikeouts in three innings on the mound.
For Zion Chapel, Brodie Stinson went 1-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases, while John Foster Hamm hit a double. Brady Flowers pitched five innings and struck out two batters, while giving up 12 hits and six earned runs.
Ariton closed out the tournament with a 9-3 win over Eufaula on March 1. Gabe Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Bryce Odom stole two bases, scored two runs and earned two RBIs. Austin Evans pitched two and 1/3 innings and struck out a pair of batters, while giving up three hits and two earned runs. Parker Wimberly pitched two and 2/3 innings and gave up two hits and no earned runs with one strikeout.
Zion Chapel also picked up a 7-3 win over Eufaula on March 1. Stinson went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, while Hamm went 2-for-3 with two runs. Dylan Davis pitched four innings and struck out six batters, while giving up two hits and no earned runs. Davis also went 2-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate. Hamm also pitched two innings and fanned a pair of batters along with giving up two hits and one earned run.
Zion Chapel wrapped up the tournament with a 6-1 loss to Headland. Will Watson earned a double and Brodie Stinson stole three bases with one run. Tyler Bass pitched five innings and gave up seven hits and four earned runs along with striking out four batters.
