Goshen, Pike County split doubleheader

The Goshen Eagles hosted the Pike County Bulldogs for a baseball doubleheader on Thursday with both teams earning one win each.
Goshen earned a hard-fought 10-8 win in game one. Tyler McLendon led the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases, three RBIs and three runs, while Layton Burgans went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. JD Burney also earned an RBI and two runs.
Will Blackman pitched three innings and struck out nine batters, while giving up two hits and three earned runs. McLendon also pitched two innings and retired five batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs. He also earned 15 putouts.
For Pike County, Ben Patterson and Daniel Collins scored two runs each, while Britt Albritton and Noah Terry each tallied two RBIs. Michael Gabel pitched four and 1/3 innings and struck out seven batters, while giving up five hits and five earned runs.
The Bulldogs bounced back to take game two by a score of 12-5. Pike County scored nine runs in the fifth inning to run away with the game. Collins led PCHS offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, while Jakori Green also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Albritton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Both Gabel and Patterson scored two runs each. Albritton pitched five innings and struck out four batters, while giving up 10 hits and four earned runs.
For Goshen, Burney went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run, while Mason Adair went 2-for-2 with one double, an RBI and two runs. Grant Taylor, Burgans and McLeod each hit a double. McLendon pitched four and 1/3 innings and struck out nine batters, while giving up five hits and four earned runs. Jack Redmon earned nine putouts and both Cody Boyette and Logan Linton earned a double play.
