The annual membership meeting of the Pike County Chapter of the Alabama TREASURE Forest Association was held in the community room of South Alabama Electric Cooperative at noon on Thursday.

John Deloney of Deloney and Gandy Timber, spoke about the forestry industry in the local area and about the past and the future of the timber and logging industry.

Deloney took questions from the floor and, in answering one Treasure Forest member’s question, he was also answering the same question for other members.

A highpoint of the membership meeting was the recognition of David and Sharon Hart as owners and caretakers of their forestland and were honored as Alabama TREASURE Forest Association members.

TREASURER foster individuals are those who are dedicated to improving the forest lands of Alabama and the nation.

These lands are managed for many resources including wildlife habitats, pine and hardwood timber resources, clean water recreation opportunities and beautiful scenery.
