Motorcycle enthusiasts and journalists made a pit stop through Troy on Thursday during their ride to Daytona, Fla., in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle.
Each rider represented a different bike or motorcycle enthusiast magazine or publication and each were riding a 2025 Honda Gold Wing, which will be released in March. The ride began at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham and will continued down to Daytona, Fla.
“We did one day at the track (in Birmingham) and now we’re riding them down from Birmingham to Daytona, we’ll make a stop in Ocala,” Honda Motor Company, Inc. Public Relations Rob Doyle said.
Doyle, a former journalist himself, said Troy was selected as a stop along the ride after a scouting trip.
“We did a scouting trip about a month ago and one of our scouts found this town and checked it out and all the restaurants,” said Doyle. “I think he picked out the perfect spot. What a cool little town you guys have here.”
The riders made a stop in at The Corner in downtown Troy for lunch before heading back on the road.
“It was great,” Doyle said of The Corner. “It was really good and what they say about Southern hospitality is true, it’s not just a saying. We definitely noticed that here in Troy.”
