On Tuesday, The C Spire Foundation announced a $15,000 donation to Troy University to be used to establish a scholarship program aimed at supporting students majoring in accounting, computer and information sciences, electronics engineering or cybersecurity.

Each of three students selected for the scholarship will receive a $5,000 scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Troy University Scholarship Committee will select the recipients of the scholarships and the scholarships will be awarded for the academic year beginning in the fall. The scholarships are for one year but recipients can reapply the following year.

“This initiative aligns with our mission to inspire excellence and transform the communities we serve by investing in education and professional skills development,” C Spire Foundation President and Executive Director Beth Pickering said. “By supporting Troy University students, we are fostering future leaders and highlighting the importance of innovation for a better future for our region.”

Since 1997, C Spire has donated millions of dollars in scholarships in Mississippi. The C Spire Foundation promotes computer science education in Mississippi and Alabama in collaboration with colleges and universities through STEM-related donations to schools and other initiatives.

According to a release from C Spire, the scholarship program “aims to ease the financial burden of education while supporting the future workforce in C Spire’s communities by empowering future leaders, creating career pathways and strengthening the local talent pipeline.”
