A preliminary hearing has been set for March 11 for Kesean Wilmore, who is charged with raping his infant daughter.
A preliminary hearing is a hearing to determine if there is probable cause to support the arrest. If probable cause is found, the case will be sent to a grand jury. Wilmore’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on March 11.
The 22-year-old Troy man was charged with first degree rape, first degree sodomy, incest and child abuse in January. The alleged infant victim, Wilmore’s own daughter, was transferred to a specialized facility where doctors said they expect that the child will suffer life-long effects of the damage inflicted.
Wilmore was denied bond at an Aniah’s Law hearing on Jan. 16. The purpose of Aniah’s Law is to provide judges in Alabama with more authority to deny bail to individuals charged with some of the most serious crimes, including first-degree rape.
