KK Hobdy breaks Shelton State career assists record

This weekend, former Charles Henderson star KK Hobdy broke the all-time assists record at Shelton State Community College.
Hobdy, a Troy native, was a star player at Charles Henderson High School from her eighth grade year on. She was twice named The Messenger’s Basketball Player of the Year. She also twice earned All-Messenger honors along with being named All-State three years in a row. She Hobdy 19.7 points, seven rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a senior at CHHS.
Hobby, in her sophomore season at Shelton State, is averaging 11.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She’s already logged multiple big games for Shelton State this season, including a season-high 20 points against Trinity Valley on Nov. 2, 2024. She narrowly missed out on a rare triple-double in that game, also tallying eight rebounds and 12 assists. Hobdy has dished 10 or more assists in six games this season. Her 7.1 assists per game and 192 total assists this season ranks first in the Alabama Community College Conference. She also ranks first in all of junior college (JUCO) women’s basketball, averaging more than one full assist more than any other player in the country.
In less than two full seasons, Hobdy has amassed a Shelton State record 387 career assists along with 112 steals, 351 rebounds and 586 points.
