- Lee Bryan, John Ramage and Jimmy Ramage read the plaque at the entrance to Ramage Park in Brundidge.
For several years, the city park on South Main Street in downtown Brundidge has unofficially been called “Ramage Park.”
On the afternoon of February 18, 2025, with the unveiling of markers on both sides of the park’s entranceway, Ramage Park officially became “Ramage Park.”
County officials and townspeople applauded as the park on South Main Street was officially named.

The land for the park was donated in the memory of Mary Louise Johnston Beam.
The Rev. Kevin Krist, Brundidge Methodist Church, gave the invocation and asked for God’s protection, wisdom and blessings on the park that will be a place of recreation, family gatherings, prayer and reflection for all ages for years to come.
Several county and city officials including, Pike County Commissioner Cynthia Pearson, Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd, Brundidge City Manager Willie Wright and Troy Mayor Jason Reeves expressed appreciation to the Ramage family for its commitment to community. And for its desire for and efforts to ensure a site that will provide recreation and refuge for Brundidge citizens and community visitors for generations to come.
John Ramage shared the history of Ramage Park and how Mister Jim Ramage had the foresight to understand the importance of recreational opportunities and open green spaces for people of all ages.
Ramage said the railroad tracks ran just beyond what is now “officially” Ramage Park.
Each winter, when winter came, cattle were loaded on trains “up north” and brought south to winter in Mr. Jim’s field – land that is now officially Ramage Park – and to be fed with grain from the silos.
When the weather warmed, the cows would be herded through downtown Brundidge on their unknowing way to catch the train to market.
Ramage said Ramage Park is a part of the history of Brundidge and will be a part of its future as it provides recreation and relaxation for all ages for “all ages.”
