GoodTimes Bowling in Troy held its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
GoodTimes officially opened in June of 2024 with 16 bowling lanes, a full-service restaurant and a large arcade with more than 20 arcade games including air hockey, racing games, Halo, basketball and much more.
“It’s been really good,” GoodTimes owner Scott Good said. “It was very overwhelming when we first opened in the summer and then school started back and schedules started to get filled. Football season in the South rules, so we had some time after that to kind of catch our breath and figure things out.”
Troy Mayor Jason Reeves said the arrival of GoodTimes came at a perfect time for Troy.
“It’s certainly something we have not had here and something that people of all ages have looked forward to and asked for,” Reeves said. “When people would talk about things to do, one of the things they talked about was entertainment, and this is more than bowling alley; it’s more of an entertainment venue.”
GoodTime added a bowling league recently, which has led to more success for the business.
“We’ve started a bowling league and we’ll probably do multiple leagues,” Good said. “That’s been very successful and the nights and weekends are picking up. It’s been going really well. We’ve had some time to find our footing and work out all of the kinks for when things start to get busy again in the Summer.”
Good said that he believes GoodTimes’ massive arcade sets it apart from other bowling alleys in the Wiregrass and surrounding areas.
“It’s a necessity, I don’t think one could work without the other,” he flatly said. “April will be our seven-year anniversary for our bowling alley in Auburn and the arcade pulls 40 percent of the revenue there. We have people almost every day during the week that will bring their grandkids or homeschool kids just to play the arcade. I think it’s a great combination and it works really well for us.”
Reeves said that now people that would have had to leave town for the type of entertainment GoodTimes offers can stay right here in Troy.
“You’ve got a lot of variety out here and a lot of things for people to do and people can come and enjoy it and congregate here,” he continued. “People can come, not just as a small group but also it’s a place for larger groups, whether that be a business or organization or university groups or community groups. It gives them a place to come and enjoy things that have taken people out of town in the past. This allows them to stay in town and have a great event here and enjoy things here.”
