Charles Henderson’s Theatre Program competes at Thespian Festival

Charles Henderson High School’s theatre program traveled to Vestavia Hills this past weekend and competed in the annual Alabama Thespian Festival.

A total of seven CHHS students qualified to compete in the International Thespian Festival with their performances. Rosie Staggs (Solo Acting), Aurora Stagner and Llyn Sanders (Duet Acting), Delia Temoxtle (Costume Design), Jay Barnes (Playwriting), Marquez Jones II (Scenic Design), Llyn Sanders (Short Film) and Jakobe Hines (Theatre Marketing) all earned Superior Awards to qualify for the International Thespian Festival. 

Charles Henderson also had a number of students earn Excellent Awards. Dakota Masoner, Hayes Curtis, Josie Super and Jakobe Hines were rated Excellent for Group Acting, while Anderson Hornsby and Elizabeth McLendon earned an Excellent rating in Duet Musical. Engleton Clark and Greyson Cameron were also rated Excellent in Duet Acting, while Ethan Prendergast and Sam Smith also earned an Excellent rating in Duet Acting. 

Additionally, Ava Hinton (Scenic Design), Josephine Dawson (Scenic Design and Make-Up Design), Nicco Brunje (Scenic Design) and Lily Barnett (Make-Up Design) also earned Excellent Awards, as well. 

The Alabama Thespian Festival is held annually and features theatre programs from across the state competing against once another with a chance to attend the International Thespian Festival in Indiana in the summer.
