This week, The Chartis Center for Rural Health released its annual list of the top 100 rural and community hospitals in the United States and Troy Regional Medical Center made the cut.

Of the 100 hospitals listed, Troy Regional Medical Center was the only hospital from the State of Alabama to the make the list.

“This is an incredible honor for Troy Regional,” Troy Regional CEO Rick Smith said. “As rural hospitals are struggling all across the state, and across the country, we are so fortunate to have the support of Troy and Pike County and our surrounding communities that make this possible. I am so very proud of our team who makes great things happen every day. Recognitions such as this do not happen by accident. It is the result of deliberate and consistent hard work.”

The Chartis Center for Rural Health uses is Hospital Performance INDEX to determine the top 100 hospitals, which assesses performance in inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance.

“The Top 100 award program elevates the very best performers and helps create a roadmap for those seeking to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to care for the communities they serve,” Charits Center for Rural Health Executive Director Michael Topchik said. “This is our 15th year recognizing the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals and 10th year honoring the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals, and we’re thrilled to be able to celebrate these milestones with this year’s winners.”
