Cary Linwood Dozier, Sr.
Cary was known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious energy, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger, and to know him was to love him. A devoted husband, father, and “Pop” to his grandchildren, he brought joy and laughter to those around him.
After graduating from Troy State University and the Cumberland School of Law, he dedicated his career to the legal profession, first serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery before returning to Troy, where he built a respected law practice. His colleagues and clients alike admired his dedication and integrity. Beyond his legal career, Cary was the owner of Brittany’s Restaurant, a beloved gathering spot in Troy. He was a passionate Troy University and Alabama football fan and cherished time spent with family and friends. True to his nature, Cary lived life on his own terms, a quality his loved ones will always remember.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Betty Dozier; his children, Brittany Royal (D.J.), Deonne Flowers (Tracy), Kerrie Lynn Harris (Guy), and Cary “Chip” Dozier, Jr.; grandchildren, Trip Royal, Grace Royal, Roger Phoenix (Paige), Kiriana Stukas (Paul), Jazz Wilton, Riley Dozier, Gabby Dozier, Savannah Dozier, Cole Dozier, Dylan Dozier, and Hunter Dozier; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Gail Dickens; and several nieces and nephews.
Cary was preceded in death by his parents, Senator L.L. “Dago” & Mary Nell Dozier; his brother, Cecil Dozier; sister-in-law, K Dozier; and brother-in-law, Wayne Dickens.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice and his dedicated caregivers, Ms. Angela and Ms. Jean, for their kindness and compassionate care. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dozier family.
Robert Lawrence Floyd
January 12, 1944 – February 12, 2025
Robert Lawrence Floyd, age 81, a resident of Troy, died Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Troy with Dr. Ross Lankford officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. A private graveside will follow with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Troy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wade Lindsey, Robert Lindsey, John Henderson, Todd Floyd, Chris Floyd, and Britt Newman. The Baraca Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church are honorary pallbearers.
Robert was four years old when he met his wife, Linda Floyd. They eloped when he was 17 years old and she was 18 years old. He has chased her ever since and has finally found her again.
After many years of working tirelessly, Robert enjoyed his retirement by spending time with family & friends, storytelling, and bringing a smile to everyone he encountered with his infectious laugh. Each day he found a project to get involved in whether in his garden, fishing with GG (and letting her catch the most fish), or at the ballfield or a dance recital watching his grandchildren. He maintained his positive attitude through his last days, surrounded by his family and loved ones. In fact, his last word to his girls was “love.”
Robert is survived by his daughters Angie (Wade) Lindsey and Ashley (John) Henderson; grandchildren Robert Lindsey, Wyatt Lindsey, Anslee Henderson, Ensley Eakes Henderson, and Addison Henderson; sister Ann (Marvin) Barron; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family including special friends Willie L. Tyner and Tommie L. Collins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Floyd; his parents, Lamar & Olene Floyd; and siblings Leighton Floyd and Jerry Floyd.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Compassus along with his sitters Beverly Belcher, Jasmine Potts, Karen Williams, and Nikki Knox.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the First Baptist Church Baraca Sunday School class or the Wounded Warrior Project.
