District 89 Rep. Marcus Paramore wants to make sure former Troy University head football coach Larry Blakeney is recognized by the State of Alabama.

Blakeney was elected as a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He will be enshrined along with former Ohio State and Florida coach Urban Meyer, former Alabama coach Nick Saban and former Northwestern Coach Larry Korver on Dec. 9 in Las Vegas.

“When I first began working at the Troy University Athletic Department, Coach Blakeney was one of the first people to reach out to me and my family,” Paramore said. “He is just a genuinely nice guy.”

Paramore went on to say Blakeney had a legendary career at Troy and his election to the College Football Hall of Fame was well deserved. Paramore introduced a bill in the Alabama House to give Blakeney a commendation.

Blakeney won more than 60 percent of his games and held an overall record of 178-113-1.
