The Troy Trojans opened up the 2025 softball season with the Trojan Classic last week and Taylor McKinney was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for her performance. 

McKinney was picked as D1Softball’s Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and she certainly played like it in week one. In five games, McKinney held a .467 batting average with three home runs, two doubles, six runs and four RBIs. She also held a 1.200 percent slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. She also earned an .833 fielding percentage with four putouts and one assist. 

Troy and the Trojans will begin the Cardinal Clash on Thursday, Feb. 13, against SEMO at 4:30 p.m. The Trojans play Eastern Illinois on Feb. 14 and face off with Western Kentucky on Feb. 15. Troy rematches Eastern Illinois on Feb. 16 at 11:30 a.m. and then faces off against Alabama State at 2:30 p.m. later in the day.
