Pike Lib closes season in subregional at Clarke County

Both the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots and Lady Patriots saw the 2024-2025 basketball season come to a close this weekend with losses to Clarke County in the subregional round of the Class 2A State Playoffs. 

On Friday, the Pike Lib girls lost 52-30 to Clarke County. Pike fell behind 22-9 going into the second quarter but cut the lead to 31-15 at halftime. Pike trailed 46-25 going into the fourth and Clarke County outscored PLAS 6-5 in the final frame. 

Pike was led by Casidee Boone with 14 points, while Riley Burkett added nine points. Aleah Watkins led Clarke County with 17 points. 

On Saturday, the Pike boys lost 67-54 to to Clarke County, as well. Sawyer Keck led PLAS with 21 points in the loss, while Jack Baggett scored 14 points and Jackson Mitchell added 10. Justavian Crayton led Clarke County with 30 points. 

Despite the losses, it was the first time Pike Lib Basketball – both boys and girls – have made it past the area tournament since joining the Alabama High School Athletic Association. 

The Ariton Lady Purple Cats also saw their season come to an end on Friday with a 46-16 loss to Providence Christian in the 2A Subregional. While Providence held a slim 18-11 lead at halftime, the Lady Eagles outscored Ariton 23-3 in the third quarter to break the game open. Nya Allen led AHS with six points in the loss.
