Both the Charles Henderson Trojans and New Life Christian Academy will be competing in playoff basketball this week.
The playoff week will start on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with the first ever postseason appearance for the New Life Eagles and Lady Eagles as they compete in the ACAA Area Tournament.
The boys will play at 9:30 a.m. against Chilton, while the girls will play against AIM Academy at 11:30 a.m. with both games taking place at the Troy SportsPlex. The girls team is led by 6-foot-5-inch, 15-year old Karmen Wilson, who is averaging 18 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks per game. She’s the first player in ACAA history to average a triple-double in a season.
Meanwhile, the Charles Henderson boys team will head to Montgomery this Thursday, Feb. 13, for a matchup against the LeFlore Rattlers at 10:30 a.m. at the Garrett Coliseum in the Class 5A Regional Tournament.
LeFlore defeated Williamson in the subregional round of the state tournament last week, while Charles Henderson beat Eufaula. Charles Henderson is also coming off its fourth straight Area Championship and has won 11 straight games. In fact, Charles Henderson has not lost at all since the calendar flipped over to 2025.
Charles Henderson will be led by All-Area Tournament players Cody Cross, Jydarien Burney and Tournament MVP Kameron Christian. Charles Henderson’s Tyler Cross also scored 13 points against Eufaula in the subregional.
